Sponsored by our Friends at YMCA Black Achievers.
Join over fifty HBCU recruiters and alumni for the Black College Fair. The program will
consist of a half-day fair where college admission representatives can confer with
students, parents and guidance counselors to disseminate information describing
educational programs at their respective schools. Volunteers are always needed, so call us
or call our friends at YMCA Black Achievers. Parents, high school students, teachers, and
friends are invited to attend. This event will be held at Boston College, Thursday,
October 11, 2001 from 8:00 a.m. - noon.

NBCA GENERATION LECTURE SERIES ON FISK UNIVERSITY

At Roxbury Community College Media Arts Building,
Join the National Black College Alliance's second Generation Lecture Series focusing on
how HBCU alumni are changing and shaping our neighborhoods. Fisk University in Nashville,
Tennessee, founded in 1867, is one of America's national treasures. Alumni include: W.E.B.
Dubois, Hazel O' Leary, John Hope Franklin, and Nikki Giovanni. Our second lecture series
will be focused on NBCA/Fisk Alumni members and how they are building Boston's
communities. Join six native Boston alumni from Fisk University, who will share how their
alma mater has helped them shape their community involvement at Roxbury Community College

The NBCA’s Summit on Volunteerism and Philanthropy.

Summit on Volunteerism and Philanthropy for
organizations in Greater Boston. Join community
organizers, politicians, volunteers, active givers and
mentors. Learn and share how to: be a giver and a
mentor to youth, young professionals, new programs,
and develop a stronger volunteer base for
community-based organizations.
The Summit will bring together Boston’s experts
focusing on volunteerism and philanthropy development
for membership organizations. Special lectures and
workshops will be provided on organizational
infrastructure development, managing volunteers,
organizing a board of directors, raising resources,
and how to become an Executive Director with a
non-profit organization. All are welcomed. Limited
seating.

in 1989, is dedicated to increasing the awareness of
historically black colleges and universities to high
school students and the general public through
education, leadership development, tutoring,
mentoring, diversity initiatives and symposiums. In
addition, the organization encourages volunteerism and

individuals, corporations, government, and foundations
to become active in creating a new generation of civic
leaders.
